When Luxury Takes Off: Unmasking the Carbon Footprint of Celebrity Private Jets
Private Jets, Public Costs — The Real Climate Bill of Celebrity Flights
Let’s talk private jets.
In the span of just a few days, three celebrity jets — belonging to Kylie Jenner, Kim Kardashian, and WWE — racked up some jaw-dropping carbon numbers. If you love planes like I do, this is both fascinating and… kind of scary.
—
Kylie Jenner’s Bombardier Global 7500 recently took a 12-minute flight. Just 12 minutes. It burned 86 gallons of jet fuel and emitted 0.82 metric tons of CO₂.
But it doesn’t stop there.
In just 6 days, the same jet was in the air for a total of 12 hours and 43 minutes. That’s 5,455 gallons of fuel burned, and 52.2 metric tons of CO₂ released into the atmosphere.
Kim Kardashian’s Gulfstream G650ER, registered as N1980K, also took a 10-minute flight. That short hop? It released 0.66 metric tons of CO₂ — more than what the average person emits in 2 full years.
Just 10 minutes in the sky. That’s the scale of private jet pollution.
By the way kim and Kylie just flew to venice separately on the same day for jeff bezos wedding ( maybe one plane was carrying stuff ,security and the rest of camera crew?)
And then there’s WWE’s Bombardier Global 5000 (N247WE). Over just 9 flights, it burned 11,447 gallons of jet fuel and emitted a massive 107.87 metric tons of CO₂.
That’s equal to the entire yearly carbon footprint of 23 average people.
Why am I sharing this? I don’t even know anymore. Maybe because I’m obsessed with planes. Or maybe because these numbers say something loud about the climate crisis — and who’s really contributing to it.
One jet. A few days. Dozens of tons of CO₂.
Private jets might look glamorous, but the climate cost is very real.
